“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” — Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
In a world that often pushes us toward self-criticism and comparison, it can be difficult to see ourselves the way God sees us. We may focus on our flaws, mistakes, or areas where we feel inadequate. Yet, God’s view of us is vastly different. He created us in His image, knit us together with purpose, and sees us as valuable and deeply loved.
Self-love, from a biblical perspective, isn’t about vanity or pride. Instead, it’s about acknowledging our worth as God’s creation. We are precious in His sight, and He has called us by name (Isaiah 43:1). Rejecting self-condemnation and embracing God’s view of ourselves is crucial to living a healthy, godly life.
Prayer Points:
1- Lord, help me to see myself through Your eyes. Teach me to love who You have created me to be, and to accept the unique gifts, strengths, and weaknesses You have given me.
2- Father, I release any feelings of guilt, shame, or condemnation I may carry. Your Word says that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).
3- Lord Jesus, strengthen my identity in You. When I am tempted to believe lies about myself, remind me of who I am in You. I am chosen, loved, and redeemed.
Confessions:
1- I am fearfully and wonderfully made; my identity is secure in Christ, and I choose to walk in the confidence of His love for me.
2- I reject all feelings of self-condemnation, knowing that in Christ, I am fully forgiven and accepted.
3- I love myself because God loves me, and I choose to see myself through His eyes — valuable, unique, and precious in His sight.
Conclusion:
Self-love is not about focusing on ourselves to the exclusion of others; it’s about seeing ourselves through the lens of God’s truth. As you walk in this understanding, allow His love to fill you so completely that it overflows into how you love others. Rest in the fact that you are not a mistake, but a masterpiece crafted by the hands of the Creator.
